Wilson, 33-year-old passed away at Kerala Institute of Medical Science (KIMS) in Thiruvananthapuram today marking the 11th death in the country and the first in the state. He has been recognized as an NRI who flew down from America and then came down to the city. In between, he did travel to Chennai and the journey from Chennai to Thiruvananthapuram was through train.
The sources said that he has been suffering from high fever since past seven days and even during his admission to KIMS Hospital. Dr. Anoop who treated him conveyed that the throat swab was immediately sent to the National Institute of Virology located in Pune.
The lack of proper care and facilities has been pointed out to be the major cause of Wilson’s death as he was first taken to a private hospital where appropriate treatment options were unavailable. It was only when the fever remained the same he was shifted to KIMS hospital from where the tests proved him to be positively affected by the H1N1 virus.

They have also planned for immediate opening of centers to test for H1N1 virus and the health officials also has conveyed that the other passengers who traveled with him will be found out to test for the same.
The death toll swaying its way, the total infected has been figured out to be 864 in India, out of which 523 has already been discharged and the rest under treatment.
