Shah Rukh Khan Sustained at New Jersey Airport
The Superstar of India, Shah Rukh Khan was questioned at the New Jersey Airport on his way to Chicago for the Independence Day celebrations. He was all set for his new release “My name is Khan”, a Karan Johar film along with Kajol. He was questioned by the officials for around two hours and was just allowed to make a single phone call. His release was administered only after the interference of the Indian Embassy.
SRK,Kajol and Karan Johar- 'My Name is Khan' Tean
SRK says that he was questioned because his name “Khan” popped on the monitors and was asked for the need of his visit and even the information about people who knew him in chicago to vouch for him. SRK spoke to CNN IBN about the incident.
“They checked me because I was an Asian.”
“They wanted to know why I came to the US and where I am staying.”
“It is a Muslim name and I think the name is common on their checklist.”
Mr. Timothy J Roemer, the US Ambassador in New Delhi explained on SRK to be “The Global Icon” and also added to this phrase conveying SRK to be a highly welcomed guest of the United States.
This was nothing new to the US as the same news popped out as a follow up of the same incident which happened to Mammootty, the Malayalam superstar who was detained at the JFK Airport just because his surname was Ismail.
