Planet Rotating in the Opposite Direction Found

The international team of astronomers has discovered a new planet which seems to be rotating in the opposite direction in regard to its host star. Till date, the findings and science stated that the planets rotate along the same direction as that of their stars, but this has been considered to be an exception.

This new planet has been named as WASP-17 and its size has been assumed to be twice as that of Jupiter. Even the size is bigger than the latter; the weight of the new planet seems to be equal to just half of that of Jupiter as it has density similar to that of expanded polystyrene.

The new finding of rotation to the opposite of the star has been termed as “retrograde orbit” and it is an exception as the planets and stars rotate from common West to the East orbit.

The rotation along the same direction is due to the similarity in the material from which they are created. The planets are known to be formed from the swirling gas which comes out which resulted in the creation of star. The new planet and its motion are to be studied in detail and the researches are being conducted to know more about it.
