Swine Flu deaths in the Country Climbs off to 17

Six people were reported to be dead on Wednesday taking the toll from 11 to 17 in the same day. Out of the six deaths, 5 were reported from Pune and the last one from Nashik thus claiming Pune to be as the ‘Epidemic City’. This has lead to a complete shut down of schools, colleges, cinema halls, markets and other crowded areas in the state.

The total number of lives succumbed due to swine flu in Maharashtra alone has been recognized as 13. The five deaths on Wednesday from Pune were from Sasoon hospital which has been seriously into handling cases which were severe. The fatalities include Gautam Shelar who died at 4.45 pm. He was in the critical care unit since 4 days and was fighting terribly over the disease. Nita Meghani, 50 years old was the next victim in the same hospital who died on the same day.

On Wednesday at 11am, the death call was for Babu Genu khuland at Sasoon hospital. He was from a small town near Pune called Pimpri. Yet another person from the same town who died the same day was Sanjay Mistry who was 35 years old. Both these men were battling for their lives since a few days and were under ventilator for their survival.

Shravani Deshpande was the next victim who passed away at 3 a.m in the same hospital. She was admitted to the hospital with severe pneumonia, but later the reports confirmed her as an H1N1 patient and were administered carefully in ventilator before died. The death from Nashik was that of a Civil Hospital doctor, Rakesh Gargunde who also lay forth to the disease thus making the total count to be 17 with all 13 deaths in Maharashtra alone.
