3 Days Harvest for Flyers: Airfares Slashed 50%

The Jet Airways were the first ones to introduce this new offer of slashing the ticket rates to 50% due to their tremendous loss owing to the strike last week. The next and spontaneous move was administered by the other airlines in India stating the same cutting down the rates for the coming three days.

According to one of the estimations it has been stated that the bookings of Jet Airways tickets tumbled down from 23,000 to 7,500 in a single day. The new proposal for the flyers by the airways was “50% discount on total fare (economy class)”. This was valid on all the domestic flights which were operating across Jet Airways as well as Jet Konnect and this travel will have a life until 18th of September, 2009.

This walk out has taken out the toll for the airlines determining a total loss of more than Rs.200 crores, approximately $40 million.
