‘Grassroot Grammy’ won by A.R Rahman

A.R Rahman, the King of music wins yet another honor after Oscars, the 'Grassroot Grammy’. The Just Plain Folks 2009 Music Awards ceremony was conducted in the U.S and he won the top prize for the soundtrack which he played in “Godfather”, the Tamil film which was categorized under “Best Indian Album” category. The others nominated were Ilayaraja and Krosswindz, the Bangla band.

The Just Plain Folks 2009 Music Awards have 50,000 members all across the globe and they were set up to lend their helping hand to the grassroot musicians and songwriters via different means including networking, education and even promos.

Apart from this he bagged the third place in yet another nomination for the ‘Best Indian Song’ which he composed for a Radio Mix called ‘Innisai’ featured from ‘Godfather’. In the ‘Best Indian Album’ nominees, “Music Journey: Live in Italy” by Ilayaraja came up to the third position.

The award was so huge that it was a collaborated effort and it surely did shine by availing responses from across 163 countries.
